Caroline & Adam's Boxcar Sidewinder

Adam & Caroline were chasing the dream hard in Los Angeles; he was cheffing at Trois Mec while Caroline had a steady tour booked solid for 2020, both of which were upended by the shutdown.

COVID rocked the world of the artist community: income earning creatives faced reinventing the model of their craft to reestablish fiscal sustainability.

We had to roll the 🎲, & rather than sulk in the reset we placed a positive spin on it as ideal timing to lay some Minnesota roots.

Like many they decided to return to the Midwest as the many did in coastal shutdown,  returning to the Minneapolis was the logical step to secure footing for these two 💎 .

These two beauties became early adopters unknowingly at first into the model of our duplex manifesto: blessed with true grit they are roll-up the sleeves, Pave your way style of humans, this vision was evident early with their first illustration of the smoking unit kitchen revival which began promptly after deed signing on closing day.

Caroline has been working part time constriction gigs with friends and quickly demoed their kitchen while executing a shaker Ikea cabinet order before closing.

The passive income model of placing sweat equity into a lower cost duplex allows these two to obtain flexibility of inexpensive housing in Mpls, which frees the the energy to focus on their careers in cooking and music.

Adam’s savvy view of the evolving chef world with covid put an emphasis on the importance of having housing stability, with the sidewinder tudor, it meant present stability especially once they return both units to their original glory.  The rent roll will support their next migration should they decide to chase another opportunity on the coasts.

The prior ownership of this tudor was a lousy investment group out of Edina, who operated with disheveled maintenance workers and very poor decision making on the buildings annual care. Adam & Caroline have their battle plan from RFP to reverse the effects of profiteering ownership without passion for the structure.

Stay tuned while they embark on current quest for a complete revival of both boxcar units beginning with the occupying side, and then moving next-door this winter to give 1930 her swagger back.
