Matt & Jess's 1926 Shenandoah Terrace Bungalow

Matt & Jess had an iron-clad approach to saving a classic home.   They found an amazing rescue bungalow that intimidated the majority of purchasers this late winter.   Perched on sloping 15th avenue, just above the creek in Shenandoah Terrace their 1926 brick bungalow has endured a myriad of recent neglect.

Plans on the front end include:  brick restoration, kitchen remodel, plaster repair throughout, and a complete reworking of the attic level, creating a two bedroom oasis complete with suburban style master bath and walk-in closet.

The main floor common areas are richly appointed in original built-ins with woodwork crying for a revival.

Red oak hardwoods are soon to be refinished, walnut stained millwork will be sanded, re-stained and varnish coats applied. Mid 20's era craftsman homes are getting increasingly rare as renovation opportunities, Matt and Jess took this into account when elected to purchase this home as-is from HUD, despite plumbing, gas line, and other update items needed to be completed prior to closing.

The Padget's are taking no prisoners with this renovation, arriving to the home on close day with completed blue prints for the second story remodel.   We are excited to keep tabs on their progress in the coming years.  DSC_9088 DSC_9089 DSC_9083 DSC_9090 DSC_9059
