Standish Cottage for Northeast Victorian

julie6 Julie began her journey with Rare Form Properties in September, when she contacted us to sell her property in Standish. With a new job in New Hope, she was consistently dreading her commute through the 35W/94 interchange. Her friends in NE intervened, convincing her to join them in one of Minneapolis's top growing areas.

Julie was a bit superstitious though, she had no intention of looking for a new home until her bungalow sold. Lo and behold, her home sold in 4 hours - leaving us just 40 days to find that perfect NE home and get moved out.

After a few weeks of searching every available home in NE, Julie kept coming back to one of the first properties we walked through. 1114 is stunning - a preservation masterpiece. The downside - no yard. The home would've been a slam dunk after the first walk through had there been a yard, but it took a few weeks of contemplation and house comparison to decide that it was the one.

Julie is a prime example of many buyers we work with. When a home is a right fit, you just know it. You walk in, it feels great, and you are willing to put up with any downsides the home may have. When making these big decisions, we always encourage our clients to fall back on their gut - it is typically the best indicator as to what's right!

Located near Taylor St and 26th, this 1906 beauty has been expertly restored. The former owners lived here for 14 years, and committed to preserving the home, one room at a time. The result is an impeccable preservationist property.

The main floor wood work and staircase are beautiful. The light fixtures reflect the home's original era, and even the kitchen doesn't look out of place - tying in modern updates with original built in cabinets.

Each room has been stripped and repainted, floors sanded, and moulding restored. All windows have been updated with wood, tilt out double-hungs for energy efficiency while preserving the same character and look of the original home.

Even the bathroom has been fully restored. With a re-glazed clawfoot tub, beautiful grey tiles, heated floors and white/chrome accents, this space has all modern amenities while giving us the same feel as the former owners in 1906.

We're so excited that Julie picked such a perfect upgrade. Even the location has major perks located blocks from the Eastside Food Co-op, Fair State, Audubon Park, and dozens of restaurants and breweries. We can't wait to hear more as she settles in and enjoys all of the character driven updates.
