Vallonia Creekside Bungalow of 1925
The Vallonia is a rarity in her setting. The craftsman bungalow was foundational in the classic home journey that began in the turn of the century.
This version is an actual Sears Bungalow plan from 1925, albeit modernized for today with an attached garage/owner’s suite addition. The location of Vallonia makes her truly special, as South Hale was developed by the Thorpe Brothers- architectural master planners produced tudor era developments along the creek from Edina to Nokomis.
Vallonia enters you into a classic douglas fir screen porch, fireplace is flanked by swing in windows and a craftsman arch separates the dining room. Her kitchen was just redone by our craft trades executing a design in rare form spec: crisp lacquer enamel, honed counters over custom paneled cedar and mosaic tile.
Message us early to get inside, the proximity to the creek and the integrity of this craftsman is a dymanic combination at 465k.
Kitchen was a creative use of material and moody tones by Deidre Webster at DRF. The two toned enamel was sprayed in catalyzed lacquer, providing a smooth finish that has commercial durability. The wood panel was installed floor to ceiling with base and cap molding, this cedar was finely sanded and finished in a pickle stain with several clear coats to final.
A full light panel door was added from Anderson, this provides a beam of west light and opens the exterior flow, which is a major weakness of the craftsman era.
The primary bedroom is sprawling over the garage. Prior owners completed this addition and used every penny they had in the 2000 era. The work completed was excellent as it was finished to match the existing interior and left the next owners with great possibilities to add an owners suite.
