Robert's 1923 Vinyl Lounge Bungalow

DSC_8779 Robert's fired up about his soon to be Vinyl Lounge Bungalow.   Built in 1923, this classic sears style craftsman resides just blocks from Washburn High School.  His pose above was inspired by boombox wielding John Cusak in Say Anything (1989).   This bungalow is on the finest examples of an original 1920's home, unaltered throughout and soon to be revived by Robert.  The story of the home is deep and wild, as we secured it non-MLS after a failed sale attempt by the seller for the duration of fall 2014.

The 1923 facade is adorned with craftsman brick, fresh tuckpointing all around is evident in this photo.   Robert is fired up to stage the porch for a morning coffee hangout, he is also planning on stripping a restoring the wood on the front door.  Front porch shot below depicts the original soffits with joist and bead that have been lovingly restored and preserved

Our pre-closing final walk through revealed the home in its empty state:  millwork restoration, fit and finish work is first on the list.   This expansive living room has a wood burning fireplace, Anderson Windows, and thick craftsman millwork that leads into a formal dining room.

Evaluation of the windows sills reveals paw marks from a large hound!   We plan on visiting this bungalow to perform a woodwork restoration demo, so Robert can tackle this interior one room at a time.  Below the slimline bath radiator backed with classic subway and original floor mosaic.

The detailed 1920's hardware is all intact, radiators above will be sprayed with high gloss.   Robert will be filling the space with vinyl and soul!  A modern or classic chandelier will replace the sterile one presently in place.

Basement is nearly 1000 feet of blank canvas expansion space.   Laundry and utility relocation accompanies plans for a guest bed and vinyl cocktail lounge, to house the collection of thousands of records.

Congrats to Robert, and his ability to spot a classic home with amazing potential for preservation and modernizing.  We will be updating his story as our summer house warmer approaches, one for the books is in store with Bourbon Jump-ups and Vinyl riffs late into the evening.

Robert will be walking to visit Nick and Thomas at Corner table in the coming weeks to celebrate his new bungalow.
